Build Your Own Website – A Tutorial Library

I am working on an entire library of tutorials (most with videos) that will show you how to do all kinds of things with your website…. from the basics of building it, to customizing it, to search engine optimizing it, and even to adding your own shopping cart.

It takes some time to create these, so if a link below isn’t clickable, it just means I’m still working on it. Thanks for your patience!

(Not sure that you need your own website? Read THIS.)

Adding Your Own Shopping Cart.

Want to save a TON in Etsy fees? My Ecwid shopping cart costs me less per year, than just a few DAYS of December selling fees on Etsy. It also keeps my visitors on MY site (no more sending them off to Etsy distraction-ville.) I can’t recommend highly enough, that you use your own shopping cart, and these videos will show you how to set up Ecwid, my absolute favorite plugin.

Setting Up Your Email List.

Getting Your Site Found In The Search Engines.

SEO (search engine optimization) does not need to be difficult, and I don’t believe in bogging yourself down with all the crazy, technical stuff. These videos will give you just the SEO skills you need, and none that you don’t.

I would love to get more information on building a Facebook store…when I look at reviews from people, they aren’t getting business from their Facebook store. Been there, done that on other sites…threw my money away!

Sandra…. I have a shop on Facebook, through my shopping cart plugin, Ecwid. It gets some sales, but I only have it there as a service to those who like to stay on Facebook. (Ecwid makes it very easy to set up and integrates with your regular shop – I have a link up above in my sidebar).

I DO however get a LOT of indirect sales from Facebook. My goal is to have a highly engaged and constantly growing audience, and then bring those people back to my website, where they either join my email list, or buy from me. This is the best and most productive way to use Facebook… AND, in this way, you are “capturing” people on your own site, rather than simply getting a quick sale and possibly never seeing them again.

I have some videos in the works all about how I use Facebook – I’ll have them posted soon. 🙂

Staci, thank you SO much for your ebooks and and your free articles. You are an excellent teacher who creates easy to understand detailed training material. You take the mystery and the fear out of learning how to get a website up and running. I have been overwhelmed trying to get comprehensible knowledge from other resources. I just got your ebook this week and I now have confidence to make my dream come true of selling crafts and information about Art and Crafting on my own website! I am reading the ebook and all the links first, plus taking notes as I go with ideas that I get for content. I am so happy for your success, you have worked hard and turned your success into the next level called significance by helping others. ?

Hi Jennifer… glad you like the articles! I no longer have that eBook as free (but it’s only $7 now 🙂 ), but everything else here is free, and that “coming soon” page is live again as well, with some free audios. That is right here: https://staciannlowry.wpengine.com/join-email-list/

      I hope that helps 🙂

Hello! I am looking to start my own website/blog and have my eggs in more baskets than just the Etsy basket. 😉 I am wondering if you would advise me? I want an ecommerce site that has a blog. Or, a blog that has a shop. ??? LOL!

Also, do you have a business to recommend that will build it for me? I can do it but I’d much rather be making jewelry.

    Thank you,
    Janet

Hey Janet! So for someone to build for you, I really don’t have any personal experience with anyone because I’ve never actually hired anyone for that…. so I can’t really knowledgeably recommend on that. There are tons of people out there though, at all kinds of price points, depending on what you’re looking for. You could try Upwork, 99 Designs, or somewhere like that if you wanted to browse and get ideas.

For the shop/blog thing…. what I have is a website and blog, and then I have an commerce plugin installed for my shop. I use Ecwid for that, and I really, really like it. If you are not quite ready to jump into that though, you could also link from your site directly to your Etsy shop just for now. This way, you’re still starting to build the benefits of having your own site (like building an audience and traffic), but you’re just using Etsy as a method for customers to checkout.

(And then later when you’re ready, switch that Etsy link to a shop page that you have installed right into your own site.)

I have a video explaining these options a little more in-depth right here:

      https://staciannlowry.wpengine.com/website-library/how-to-link-to-your-etsy-shop/

Will you let me know if that answers your question?

Thank you for all the helpful information! Some of the topics are still missing the videos, like the one on the wordpress theme. Do you know when the rest will be added? Thanks again!
